Accessibility Statement
Last updated: January 2, 2026
The Three is committed to ensuring our journalism is accessible to all readers, including those who use assistive technologies.
Our Commitment
We believe everyone deserves equal access to quality journalism. We strive to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards across our website. Accessibility is an ongoing priority, not a one-time effort.
Accessibility Features
We have implemented the following features to improve accessibility:
Navigation
Our website includes a skip-to-content link that allows keyboard users to bypass navigation and jump directly to main content. All pages are navigable using keyboard controls alone. Our navigation structure uses proper heading hierarchy to help screen reader users understand page organization.
Visual Design
We maintain sufficient color contrast ratios between text and backgrounds throughout our design. Our website supports both light and dark color modes, which can be toggled using the theme switcher in the navigation. The theme switcher respects your system preferences by default.
Typography and Readability
Body text uses readable serif fonts at comfortable sizes. Our layouts allow text to reflow when users zoom in, maintaining readability at up to 200% zoom. We use relative units for font sizes, allowing the site to respond to browser-level font size adjustments.
Images and Media
All informative images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked appropriately so screen readers skip them. We provide transcripts for audio content and captions for video content where available.
Forms and Interactive Elements
Form fields include visible labels and helpful error messages. Interactive elements such as buttons and links have clear focus indicators. All functionality available by mouse is also available by keyboard.
Semantic Structure
Our pages use semantic HTML elements—articles, sections, headers, navigation—to convey meaning and structure. This helps assistive technologies interpret and present our content correctly.
Browser and Assistive Technology Compatibility
We test our website with current versions of major browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We aim for compatibility with popular screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
Known Limitations
While we work to ensure accessibility across our website, some older archived content may not yet meet all standards. We are actively working to improve accessibility in these areas. Some third-party content embedded on our site, such as social media posts, may have accessibility limitations outside our control.
Feedback and Assistance
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of The Three. If you encounter barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

Continuous Improvement
We regularly review our website and content for accessibility issues. We train our editorial staff on creating accessible content. As standards evolve and new best practices emerge, we update our practices accordingly.
This statement reflects our current efforts and will be updated as we continue to improve.
